Sofa Catalogue: in-depth study of the Infinito model
Focus on the Infinito model
We often ask ourselves: how can one of our customers evaluate a sofa? How will he be able to make a comparison between one sofa and another? Because apart from the fabric and the feet, everything else is hidden! Everything is hidden and not even an expert can make a serious comparison between one product and another just by looking at it, let alone a user without the necessary knowledge and the appropriate analytical skills.
If we need to buy a mobile phone or a car and many other products, hundreds of websites help us, we find hundreds of information, reviews, tests and much more capable of making us “competent” or at least capable of building our own personal idea of product and therefore of expense.
The most effective method used by various websites is to compare products in terms of main characteristics: processor, memory, battery, ram, camera, etc.
For example, even if we don’t know what a “mAh” is, we can guess that a 4,000 “mAh” battery compared to a 2,800 “mAh” one is clearly superior.
So we apply the same method, we use the comparison on the main characteristics of the product. The comparative method is simple and very effective and allows everyone to evaluate the pros and cons, positive and negative aspects of one product compared to another.
But what are we looking at? What do we ask the shopkeeper? Perfect, these are the right questions; it is a question of defining which parameters are necessary to establish the quality of a sofa.
Although we are convinced that beautiful and well-made things can be seen at first sight, we want to give you the tools, go into the details of the sofas easily, clearly and without using incomprehensible words.
With the topics that we will deal with later, we want to share our experience and our idea of the product, which we could summarize in this thought:
“… with a little more I really have much more!”
Infinito Model. Sofa cm. 244
Let’s start the comparison by laying the product bare
INFINITO can be made in both removable fabric and semi-removable leather. The feet, armrests, seat cushions and back cushions are completely removable.
This makes it easier than ever to remove and replace the covers, both for cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and for completely washing the cover.
THE FEET
The feet are in painted metal. They are made to our design by a company specialized in precision cutting with laser technology.
The cut is made on thick slabs
The painting is done with an electrostatic process.
These manufacturing processes are carried out by specialized companies in our area that comply with the highest quality standards.
Comparison:
Generally, the feet are nothing more than sheet metal bent even less than 1 mm. Naturally of foreign origin, resold by national warehouses to many companies. The feet are repeated, they are visibly identical on many products. The finishes are limited.
The Infinito feet are made to our design in specialized factories in the province of Treviso. Laser cut on thick metal, different standard finishes (+ availability for colors on request), original design.
The cost of an Infinito foot compared to an economic foot is almost 10 times higher.
STRUCTURE
The main components are: wood and plywood.
It may seem obvious that the supporting frame of a sofa is made of wood or plywood or iron or other material with high resistance to structural failure … but that’s not the case. Often not even the most stressed parts are made of wood!
In many cases, only the small part supporting the feet is made of wood, but all the rest is made of 10 mm, 15 mm “agglomerate of wood particles”. Often the thickness of 18 mm is not even reached.
This “agglomeration” is more commonly known by the term chipboard
Comparison:
Some chipboard parts may also be accepted if placed in unimportant areas.
However, let us make sure that the highly stressed parts such as the foot support and the fixing part of the elastic bands (those that guarantee the springing)
are NOT chipboard.
The value of an Infinito structure compared to an economic structure is 5 times higher.
PADDING
The information on padding is really very technical and not everyone has the interest and knowledge to understand the meaning of certain terms, but above all to understand the values they represent.
The term that is normally known is that of density, but although it certainly has a meaning, it is a partial and non-exhaustive value.
Just for information we inform you that there are many other fundamental parameters:
The resistance to compression
The elasticity
The lift
… and many other values that (for the moment) we won’t go into further detail.
The padding supports the body and is essential for comfort
In the image above, you can see a very cheap seat padding resting on one of our structures.
Despite having the upper and front part covered with acrylic wadding, the values of the polyurethane, the simplistic cutting and the machining reduced to zero, determine a value of the seat and a decidedly low production cost. A rectangular piece of polyurethane and an acrylic wadding glued on top, nothing more.
The sofa cover is placed directly on the padding and wadding.
The value of differentiated quotas and finishes.
In the image above, however, you can see a decidedly different way of constructing a seat, namely that of:
- Use a basic polyurethane with important lift and compressive strength values.
- Use a second polyurethane in the upper parts, soft, elastic, welcoming, which has the purpose of not excessively compressing the body when seated.
- Coat everything with acrylic wadding to give the desired shape to the seat.
- Cover the entire cushion with an additional cotton cover, well finished with an overlocker.
- Put the coating.
This is a construction system for a top-of-the-range padding and this is precisely the case of the seat padding of the Infinito model. We also remind you that the wider the padding is, (80-90-100-120 cm.) and more must be performing!
The backrest padding is also of a higher category. They have been made in a down blend with insulation chambers. They represent the best combination of the softness of the feather and the practicality of the polyurethane flock. They adapt to the body, change in shape, allow correct back support, therefore an important ergonomic function! But they come back in shape with great simplicity.
And not only.
They enhance the design, removing that excessive formal rigidity typical of polyurethane foam. The lived-in, informal, not excessive effect always has its charm.
Result:
The value of an Infinito padding compared to a cheap padding is about 5 times higher.
THE COVER
ALL THE ELEMENTS ARE COMPLETELY REMOVABLE
This fact is also common to many other products on the market, but we would like to point out that “undressing” the sofa is a fairly simple operation, but “upholstering” the sofa is another matter altogether.
The INFINITO construction system was designed precisely for this purpose: to make COVERING operations as easy as possible!
Result:
The working time required to make the Infinito cover more removable compared to a cheaper type is over 20%.
Infinito fears no comparison! Infinito clearly marks the border between banality and originality, between quality product and poor product, without forcing our customers to exaggerate outlays.
